Dr. Burk has extensive national and international experience in the practical application of the geological sciences to geohazard analysis and site characterization for mines, power transmission lines, highways and pipelines.  Broad knowledge of investigative techniques includes:
  • Aerial imagery analysis
  • Geologic mapping
  • Disconituity mapping and rockmass characterization
  • Petrography
  • Planning marine and terrestrial geophysical investigations
  • Use of satellite data for slope stability monitoring
  • Ground and aerial LiDAR
  • Sirovision
  • Remote field monitoring techniques to provide comprehensive site characterization information  
Site characterization techniques are tailored according to the needs of the project and the physical scales necessary to provide dependable results for engineering design.
